Clinical Therapist
Have you ever felt stuck in a season of life and wondered how to move forward? Maybe you find yourself carrying the weight of past experiences, struggling with anxiety or depression, or feeling overwhelmed by circumstances that feel impossible. Perhaps you have lost sight of who you are beneath the expectations, relationships, or experiences that have shaped you. What if you know something has to change—you know you can’t keep going like this—but you have no idea how to make things different? That’s the part that can leave you feeling so close to hopeless. Wherever you find yourself, this may be a very good place to start getting some answers.
Hey, I’m Lydia and I’m so glad you stopped here on my page. No matter where you’ve been or what lies ahead of you, I believe you bring a story that’s uniquely yours—shaped by your experiences, relationships, beliefs, strengths, and struggles—and therapy can be a place to slow down, feel truly heard, and begin making sense of it all. As a therapist, I take a holistic approach to counseling because–let’s be honest–none of us exist in a vacuum. Your mind, body, soul, relationships, experiences, and environment are deeply connected, and each can shape how you understand yourself, respond to stress, relate to others, and move through the world. Even how you dream about your future. You are not your diagnosis and you’re not defined by whatever brings you into my office—you are a complex, whole person, uniquely created in the image of God, and therapy should make space for all of who you are. My goal is not to give you advice or tell you what is wrong with you. My goal is to help you better understand yourself while also believing with you that healing and restoration are possible—that you can keep putting one foot in front of the other and move toward a life and future you’re genuinely excited about. No matter who you are–adult, parent, teen, college student–it’s always an honor to be invited into that process.
My approach to therapy draws from both Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Narrative Therapy. I use CBT to help clients explore the connections between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors and to develop practical tools that can support meaningful change. At the same time, Narrative Therapy resonates deeply with me because of its emphasis on the stories we carry about ourselves and our lives. I believe our stories are never finished. Therapy can help us make space for the painful parts—without minimizing or forgetting them—and begin putting them in their proper place. They may always be part of your story, but they don’t have to define it or dictate how the rest of it unfolds. There is always hope, and there are still new chapters to write.
As someone with both a Master of Divinity and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Gardner-Webb University, I also recognize that faith and spirituality can be meaningful parts of a person’s story. For clients who desire it, I am happy to incorporate faith and spirituality into our work, while fully respecting your choice if you prefer to keep faith separate from the therapy process. Above all, I want you to feel deeply respected and known as the whole person that you are. It is a privilege to journey with you through the story you are currently living and to support you as you discover what comes next.
When you’re ready, I’d be honored to come alongside you as you take the next step. We’ll figure out what moving forward looks like—together.
