Are you feeling worn down by all the to-dos on your list? Stressed by constantly people-pleasing? Struggling with overthinking, ruminating on the same negative thoughts that never seem to completely go away? Wishing you could just wave a magic wand and all your relationship worries would vanish? The process of seeking therapy can feel overwhelming, stressful, and even hopeless at times, but you’re not alone. Healing is possible for you, too.
Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, grieving a loved one (or the life you thought you would have by now), navigating intimate relationship complexities, or feeling the effects of past trauma that you’ve never really healed from, I strive to be a safe place. I work with teens and adults, tailoring each therapy session to meet your particular needs in the context of your unique circumstances in your current season of life. Your goals are your goals, and my goal is to help you reach those as quickly as possible. I believe therapy doesn't have to look stiff and scripted. It can feel like a conversation; it can feel like hope.
Anxiety in particular comes in all shapes and sizes, and sometimes it’s so deeply ingrained into how we function and who we are that it can be difficult to recognize. Maybe for you it’s high-functioning anxiety that hides behind perfectionism and success or a crippling kind of panic that leaves you wondering how you’re going to function for the rest of the day – either way, left untreated it has a way of leaving you drained and trapped in your web of negative thoughts. There is another way. I can help you figure out how anxiety is tearing you down and how to cultivate, maybe even reclaim, peace in your life. I can also help you unpack where the anxiety started in the first place–because every story has a beginning, and your story matters.
It can be especially hard for men to cope with anxiety — beyond the fact that it is unfamiliar and unsettling, it can be embarrassing and can feel like a blow to your identity as a man (and husband, father, employee, boss, pastor, etc.). I’ve seen men grow stronger and gain confidence through therapy because true strength lies not in your ability to survive without help, but in your courage to pursue healing and wholeness for the sake of your loved ones and your own life goals.
I love helping my clients creatively problem-solve and integrate simple, practical steps into their day-to-day lives. I know you have a life and you need to be able to function in it the way you want–to be your best self. I’m ready to run alongside you to reach those goals, whether it be learning communication strategies to help you connect with those you love, finding the courage to express your thoughts and feelings, practicing coping skills to manage your anxiety or depression, or figuring out how to adjust habits and patterns to help you sleep better at night. It’s about rediscovering a life you love, and then getting on with living it.
For a bit more about my background, I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in human services and psychology from Montreat College and earned my Master’s in clinical mental health counseling from Liberty University. I work from a Cognitive-Behavioral framework, helping you identify thought patterns that aren’t serving you anymore, unpack the roots of those patterns, and learn how to shift them into something healthy. I also take a person-centered approach, meaning I welcome everyone as they are, no holds barred, knowing that we all have to begin the process of change and healing somewhere.
I know what it’s like to take the next step, and while I can’t predict all the twists and turns that will color your journey, I can tell you that you won’t be alone, that resilience can be learned, and that having a supportive guide along the way can make all the difference in the world. So no matter where you are or where you’ve been, I can assure you there is space here for you, too.
